Job overview and responsibilities
The Analyst role is responsible for leading the development and execution of strategic projects to help shape United's Domestic network strategy, with the goals of maximizing long-term profitability, customer benefit, and operational feasibility.
Please note: this position may be hired at the Associate Analyst or Analyst level, depending on candidate background, skill level and experience.
Lead hypothesis-driven problem-solving of United's critical strategic challenges
Design creative approaches to complex issues by combining business judgment, subject matter expertise, and rigorous analytical methods
Generate insights by collecting and synthesizing relevant information from multiple sources, including other commercial and operating groups within the company
Build consensus in support of ideas and influence senior leadership through effective communications and dialogue
Turn ideas into action by orchestrating cross-functional teams
Regularly evaluate airline industry trends and their impact on our strategy
Drive thought-leadership by ideating on new opportunities for United's strategic growth
Bachelor's degree or 2+ years of equivalent work experience
Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and relational database software (such as SQL)
Ability to solve complex problems through independent critical thinking
Ability to independently perform accurate quantitative analysis
Ability to communicate ideas concisely and effectively
Ability to present confidently to senior executives
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative subject
Graduate degree in Business Administration (MBA)
Experience using data visualization tools (e.g., Spotfire, Tableau)
2+ years professional work experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, investment banking, finance, economics, or equivalent
