Job overview and responsibilities

IT Security Governance, Risk Management & Compliance is responsible for collaborating with Information Technology and business departments to translate industry, government (US & foreign) and contractual compliance requirements into IT Security Governance, Risk Management & Compliance frameworks, policies, standards & best practices.

This role supports development, implementation and adherence of the enterprise IT Security Governance, Risk Management & Compliance strategy which includes, risk management, security contracts and compliance management. Additionally, this position will provide support for (audits, managing remediation responses).

  • Maintain relationships with internal and external audit agencies to facilitate execution of audits

  • Participate and lead meetings with Technology and Business stakeholders.

  • Requirement elicitation Workflow and process modeling.

  • Effectively communicate audit findings and complex security solutions to leadership.

  • Aligns process/procedures to best practice

  • Current state analysis, recommendations for improved efficiencies and effectiveness of current state.Root cause identification analysis, and solution recommendations.

  • Recommend and help develop appropriate information security policies, standards, procedures, checklists, and guidelines using generally-recognized security concepts tailored to meet the requirements of the organization

  • Understand technology and operational risks to United Airlines as well as related laws, regulations, and industry standards, specifically as related to internal technology solutions;

  • Work with others to help promote effective management of identified risks in accordance with the Risk Management program

  • Monitor compliance and adherence to principles


  • Knowledge of IT Security Governance, Risk Management & Compliance best practices, procedures and standards

  • Willingness to expand upon known programming skills and continually develop/learn new technical skills in support of new tools/methods

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business Administration

  • 2-5 IT and/or business experience, or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
