The Pricing and Revenue Management department helps us run a successful business by predicting consumer demand and setting up pricing structures.

Job overview and responsibilities

The Pricing and Revenue Management (PRM) Innovation uses advances in analytics and data science to grow revenue and keep United's PRM systems ahead of the industry. The team operates at the intersection of economics, mathematics, statistics, optimization, and data science, which provides a unique opportunity to investigate and solve some challenging problems.The PRM Innovation team partners with the PRM market teams, IT, CIEO, and Data Analytics to identify, evaluate, and design solutions to business problems. The Innovation team consults with the market teams to turn ideas into prototypes. By staying on top of scientific and technological developments, the Innovation team is a technical mentor to the rest of the department. The Analyst will work with stakeholders to identify business workflow problems, to aid the design and build of prototype solutions, and to socialize changes. Ideally, the Analyst will be a curious person who isn't afraid to tackle tough problems.

  • Work with PRM market teams to identify and research feasibility of technical solutions to business problems

  • Conduct analyses to monitor results of initiatives and present these findings to peers and leaders, either in person or via reporting tools

  • Working independently or with colleagues, develop prototype solutions to identified business problems, including data acquisition and manipulation tasks as needed

  • Create, monitor, update, coordinate, and report project plans and timelines, with a goal of delivering incremental benefits over the life of a project

  • Act as technical mentor to PRM colleagues to help build skills and abilities in the department

  • Assist team in the development of prototype solutions to identified business problems by acquiring, cleaning, and manipulating data

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in math, statistics, computer science, engineering, operations research, or a similar quantitative field

  • Minimum 3 work experience in an analytical field such as pricing, revenue management, network planning, marketing, merchandising, tech ops, or sales

  • Understanding of statistics and mathematics as applied to data analysis

  • Solid knowledge of a quantitative airline subject

  • Confidence using an analytics-oriented programming language such as Python, R, SAS, etc.

  • Practical understanding of use of SQL to access relational databases

  • Familiarity with concepts of experimental design

  • Ability to think creatively and quantitatively

  • Basic understanding of statistics, analytics, or data science

  • Ability to transform concepts into real life

  • Confidence to present findings and updates to peers and leaders

  • A passion for continuous improvement

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Preferred

  • Master's degree in a quantitative field
