Job overview and responsibilities
Support United's benefit attorneys in all aspects of obtaining and maintaining ongoing qualification, benefit plan documentation compliance, agency filing requirements and other plan vendor documentation needs. Assist with implementation and administration regarding all benefit plan investment management agreements. Support the planning, organization and facilitation of the Benefit Plan Fiduciary Committee meetings with respect to legal and substantive matters.
Assist regarding all matters involving benefit plan investment management vendors including contracting, acquisition and divestitures thereof, and accompanying participant communications.
Manage annual agency filing processes for Company retirement plans for IRS, PBGC and State Tax Agencies filing requirements
Manage annual processes for audited financial statements for Company retirement plans with external auditors.
Assist with preparation and management of claim submission filings related to class action proceedings involving Company benefit plans.
Prepare draft agendas, necessary meeting materials, minutes and other scheduling logistics needed for Benefit Plan Fiduciary Committee Meetings.
Maintain electronic document file system within legal department for all company benefit plans and supporting agreements, agency filings and submissions, labor agreement documentation and investment management documentation.
Assist Benefit attorneys with other administration and compliance matters involving benefits programs, policies and procedures.
Proficient in word, excel and powerpoint. Knowledge of ERISA and Tax laws involving employee benefit plans.
Familiarity with ERISA and other requirements regarding plan asset investment management and trust operations. Experience with Fiduciary Committee or other Corporate Governance Committee/Board meeting processes and procedures.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Legal, Benefit Plan Administration or Financial Accounting.
3+ years of experience with benefit plan matters
