Job overview and responsibilities

Counsel for in-house legal department. Providing advice and training to Company on all aspects of global antitrust- and competition-related legal matters and participate in part of the Regulatory, Antitrust and Alliances legal team. Position supports VP and Deputy General Counsel and Chief of Staff to the President. May train other attorneys and paralegals. Assists in managing internal client relationships.

  • Supporting the VP and Deputy General Counsel and Chief of Staff to the President in management of practice area

  • Counseling and training of Regulatory, Alliances, Pricing/Revenue Management, Network, Cargo, Sales, Finance, Government Affairs, Corporate Strategy, and other business groups with respect to antitrust compliance

  • Providing strategic legal support for varied business initiatives

  • Significant, broad and thorough knowledge of Antitrust area, including management of outside counsel

  • Personal management of governmental antitrust-related inquiries


  • Bachelor’s Degree and Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree; member in good standing of the bar in any jurisdiction of the United States and authorized to practice law in-house for United in Illinois

  • Significant experience counseling clients in all aspects of antitrust law

  • Experience dealing directly with the Department of Justice and other governmental entities with respect to antitrust issues; at least 5 years of experience in these areas is required

  • Extensive knowledge of all relevant aspects of U.S. Antitrust law

  • Knowledge of relevant aspects of regulatory legal matters; relevant legal skills

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position


  • Law firm and/or government agency experience strongly preferred

  • Exposure to/experience with international competition laws
