Job overview and responsibilities

As the Sr Analyst, Global Compensation, you will have the opportunity to gain broad exposure to the various aspects of compensation consulting and to provide direct support to the design and implementation of several global core compensation programs. This also includes market data intelligence gathering and governance as well as global compensation administration and compliance.

Core Compensation Programs Administration and Support

  • Play a key role in the planning and execution of United’s global compensation programs including but not limited to job architecture design and implementation, annual Year-end compensation planning and core HR systems administration and compliance (PayFactors, PeopleSoft, Foundry, etc.)

  • Provide assistance in maintaining United’s global job architecture structure, upon which jobs are evaluated and benchmarked

  • Proactively diagnose and resolve escalated issues on job titling, leveling and pay based on a consistent methodology and structure

  • Support the administration of global common compensation review process, including preparation of data and system, communication and training to HR Partners, and consolidation of data for approvals

  • Provide the analytic engine to the annual salary increase and bonus allocation processes by preparing the daily review files, uploading new recommendations and preparing files for Corporate/Divisions approval

  • Coordinate, administer and monitor broad-based compensation programs for internal clients and peer groups

Market Data Intelligence & Governance

  • Provide thought leadership and analytical strategies on organizational pay practices and make recommendations for salary changes to ensure internal equity

  • Respond to management requests for ad hoc job analyses and salary recommendations

  • Partner with compensation consultants to analyze market data and to create competitive compensation recommendations and evaluate job level and salary range recommendations

  • Assist with domestic and international annual salary survey submissions

  • Participate in compensation surveys in all pertinent countries, maintain market data database with up-to-date job matching at all times, including loading new survey data, employee data, and job matches

  • Research professional literature and other internal and external resources to gather data for special compensation programs as required

  • Analyze results of salary surveys for client's benchmark and non-benchmark jobs

Compensation Consultative Support

  • Proactively consult with Compensation consultants as well as HR Business Partners to make recommendations/implementation of process improvement /changes

  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve, automate and streamline processes

  • Apply knowledge of compensation policies and procedures to recommend and implement solutions

  • Support the development of communications announcing compensation programs, timelines, and changes

  • Participate in projects related to compensation program design, implementation, and administration

Global Compensation Administration & Compliance

  • Assist with compensation compliance requirements including minimum wage analysis and works in support of the broader pay equity activities, supervisor compression analysis, etc.

  • Evaluate all new jobs/reclassifications, or reorganizations to assist the compensation consultants to determine appropriate salary, grade and job title governance

  • Work with HR and compensation consultants to determine Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) job classification and formal grade range assignment for all jobs by performing job analysis and applying job evaluation methodology

  • Perform regular audits of the data to ensure changes are within guidelines and have all necessary approvals

  • Additional projects and responsibilities as required

Design and Administration of Variable Compensation Programs

  • Assist with design administration of core variable pay/incentive programs and all operational components, such as Profit Sharing, Annual Incentive Program, Quarterly Incentive programs, Sales Incentive Plans and other short-term incentive programs

  • Responsible to ensure that all program design and administration are aligned to United’s compensation philosophy and the Company’s overall Total Rewards and business strategies

  • Assist with monthly/quarterly/annual tasks associated with respective incentive programs, to include developing initial function requirement documentation, working collaboratively with key stakeholders such as Legal, IT, HR, Finance, Corporate Communications, etc. to administer the respective programs with minimal errors to the process

  • Provide process improvements and best in class approach to mitigate errors and increase efficiencies

Required

  • BS/BA degree with 3 to 5 years of direct Compensation experience

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

  • Ability to analyze data proficient in MS Excel

  • Excellent project management, organizational, and follow-up skills necessary to prioritize and complete multiple projects and tasks and effectively meet deadlines

  • Innovative team player with skills to influence and communicate at all levels

  • Excellent documentation, communication, and presentation skills; attention to details focusing on completeness and accuracy of information

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team, conduct research, cost analysis, formulate conclusions and present conclusions regarding business issues

  • Verbal, written and interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Preferred

  • CCP/GRP certifications and Airlines industry experience

  • Concentration in analytical fields such as finance, accounting, business administration, psychology or economics

  • Knowledge of broad-based and international compensation policies and programs and associated international compliance issues

  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft, PayFactors and Foundry is a plus
