Job overview and responsibilities

As a Senior Data Analyst, you will have the opportunity to build enterprise data assets within the Commercial (Customer, Loyalty, Marketing, Network Planning, Revenue Management and Sales) portfolio, to enable business users to rapidly deliver on analytics use cases. The breadth of data at United requires the analyst to have a strong grasp on analytics usage patterns, existing/legacy technologies and data models/architectures that could be applied across various use cases. The analyst must be an expert at defining business and technical requirements to facilitate creation of appropriate data models and technical solutions.

  • Requirements development with business stakeholders

  • Data quality management, data profiling, test plan generation

  • Support Enterprise Analytics data strategy development, architecture design and product evaluation

  • Serves as a subject matter expert associated with business processes and technology within the Commercial systems

  • Lead meetings with business partners to gather requirements and document project scope

  • Management of a team of developers and analysts to deliver on analytics use cases


  • 5+ years of experience in analytical role

  • Bachelor's degree in quantitative field (statistics, engineering, business analytics, information systems, aviation management or related degree)

  • Experience working with large datasets and reporting or visualization tools, ability to tell a story using data

  • Experience with database interface tools, SQL and programming concepts

  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

  • Passionate about solving problems through data and analytics

  • Strong problem-solving skills, using data to tackle problems

  • Strong organization and project management skills, and strong attention to detail

  • Ability to proactively manage stakeholder expectations on current and future business needs

  • Outstanding writing, communication and

  • Provides leadership on the project team to identify and facilitate the resolution of requirements, scope, and project issues

  • Maintain communication with customer and team members and promote a team environment

  • Knowledge of data warehousing design concepts

  • Advanced knowledge of database design concepts and data structures (relational, file system, dataframes, etc.)

  • Advanced data mining and profiling skills

  • Prepare specified project documentation according to IT PMLC standards

  • Works independently on one or more complex projects

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position


  • Master's degree

  • Airline, or travel industry experience is desired

  • 2+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics role

  • 2+ years of experience in commercial role such as network planning or revenue management
