Job overview and responsibilities

The Senior Engineer - Aviation Cybersecurity will perform aerospace engineering functions from the lens of aviation and cybersecurity, ensuring the safety and security of digital systems on or supporting the aircraft and airworthiness.

  • Lead interactions with engineering teams to support risk reduction in the aviation product space

  • Integrate cybersecurity into the lifecycle of United TechOps procedures

  • Provide technical engineering expertise on aviation product cybersecurity tasks

  • Create technical and process documentation in order to understand the technology on or supporting the aircraft


  • Bachelor's degree in required field

  • Must have at least 3-5 years of experience in aerospace engineering, and at least 1-2 years of experience in the aviation industry, aviation maintenance provider or preferably, a major airline

  • Must have knowledge of aerospace engineering principles

  • Must have critical thinking and analysis skills

  • Strong problem solving abilities

  • Communication skills/ability to work cross-functionally

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position


  • Preferred to have at least 1-5 years of airline engineering experience and preferably in United Airlines

  • Preferred to have direct knowledge of airline engineering practices
