Team Overview

United Airlines’ Network Planning and Analytics team will work closely with Domestic Network Planning department, which is responsible for domestic P&L of United. The key objectives are to improve the core profitability of the company by building better decision support tools, supporting US-based planners and schedulers in building both short and long-term strategies, and by partnering with the team to improve the schedule quality with complementing skills and capabilities.

Role Overview

The Analyst role is responsible for delivering end to end analytical results as a part of the team as well as in individual capacity with minimal guidance. The role requires strategic thinking, strong work ethics and passion for data and analytics with the willingness to dig deep into details. Being organized, disciplined and dedicated towards consistently generating high quality outputs are the keys to success in this role. High-level responsibilities of the role include:


  • Analyze financial performance of United’s schedule and make recommendations to improve margins

  • Help develop strategic plans for maximizing long term margin potential for the network

  • Analyze fleet deployment to maximize revenue and minimize costs

  • Own assigned analysis and generate high quality solutions

  • Help the team continuously develop and demonstrate improved analysis methodologies

  • Take ownership of various data processing tasks to support decision making

  • Create and develop presentations for United leadership and external stakeholders

  • Perform ad-hoc analyses on the profitability of United Airlines route network and fleet

This position is offered on local terms and conditions within United’s wholly owned subsidiary United Airlines Business Services Pvt. Ltd. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded.


  • Bachelor's degree required; Statistics and Engineering are preferred

  • Consistent good academic record is a plus


  • Be experienced in understanding requirements of the project and owning the assigned tasks

  • Proficiency in SAS, or R

  • Knowledge in LOGIT regression model is desired

  • Exposure to Linux environment is preferred

  • Be experienced in manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high dimensionality data from various sources to highlight patterns and relationships

  • Proven comfort and an intellectual curiosity for working on different business problems in a data driven manner

  • Be proficient in using database querying tools and able to write complex queries and procedures using Teradata SQL and/or Microsoft TSQL

  • Be able to communicate complex quantitative analysis and algorithms in a clear, precise and actionable manner

  • Exhibit written and spoken English fluency


  • At least 1 year of experience in analytics required


  • About 4-6 weeks of travel to US in a year required

  • Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
