Job overview and responsibilities

Member of the Finance team that will ensure accurate processing and recording of the company’s payroll, provide timely and accurate financial information and participate in daily payroll processing operations in the PeopleSoft HMRS system. Coordinates and oversees all functions related to payroll processing. Applies leadership skills to improve efficiency and accomplish operational and workflow objectives. Accountable for ensuring deliverables are met for self and team. Contributing, planning, organizing and processing with 100% accuracy. Ensure all support functions are processed timely and accurately while all audit requirements are met. Work cross functionally within the department and within the company to drive process improvements and automation while staying up to date on all work groups and payroll guidelines. Manage and handle multiple special projects as assigned. Hold self-accountable for work. Assist with work flow and prioritization of payroll processing to achieve efficiency and to ensure deadlines are met. Assist the Payroll Management team in creating a winning team environment. Work cross functionally within the department and within the company to drive process improvements leading to best practice and automation while staying up to date on all aforementioned processing, company policies and applicable payroll laws.

  • Manage and process all PeopleSoft payroll functions for a large payroll while remaining consistent with Federal, State and Local requirements

  • Run queries and analyze data from PeopleSoft by using pivot tables and lookups as needed

  • Validate payroll summary, payroll registers and other payroll reports from PeopleSoft

  • Plan, develop timelines, address issues and identify solutions

  • Understand and apply applicable labor contracts for various work groups

  • Understand and research different time and attendance applications and how they interface with PeopleSoft

  • Review and test changes to PeopleSoft and time and attendance systems

  • Research and provide guidance on issues while working cross functionally within the department and the company

  • Work closely with high level internal/external contacts in reviewing, compiling and processing various sensitive payroll data

Required

  • College education/degree or equivalent work experience required

  • 2-3 years payroll experience required

  • Extensive working knowledge of payroll processing

  • Multi state payroll knowledge

  • Must be highly organized and a team player

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and high priorities

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel

  • Ability to drive process improvements on a departmental basis

  • Ability to multi-task, exhibit leadership skills and verbal/written communications skills

  • High level of initiative; detail oriented, excellent analytical and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent time management, follow through and organizational skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations in a professional manner

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with a high degree of accuracy

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Preferred

  • A Bachelor in Finance/Accounting preferred

  • PeopleSoft payroll experience preferred but not required
